Chris Genter, AIA, LEED AP

Chris Genter joined Oudens Ello Architecture in 2016.  He was born and raised in New Jersey and studied architecture at Cornell University, where he was awarded the Clifford Beckwith Brown medal for outstanding thesis, the Charles Sands Medal for design achievement, and the AIA medal for academic achievement. He continued his architectural studies at MIT, where he earned a Master of Science. Prior to joining OEA, Chris was with Utile Architecture and Planning from 2003-2015 as a designer and project manager on several award-winning projects, including the Boston Harbor Islands Pavilion, the MIT Center for Real Estate, and the Boston Conservatory Studio Building. He has also worked with the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Genoa, Italy on the renovation of the Harvard Art Museums and with Machado Silvetti on the Getty Villa Museum and art conservation campus in Los Angeles.

Over the past nine years at OEA, Chris has led numerous important cultural, civic and commercial projects including the Martha’s Vineyard Museum in Vineyard Haven, MA, Gladys E. Kelly Public Library in Webster, MA, Norwell Public Library in Norwell, MA, Concord Public Library in Concord, NH, Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary Visitor Center in Provincetown, MA and commercial projects for Orbia and Privateer. Chris is currently project lead on the historic rehabilitation and renovation of the Nazzaro Community Center in Boston’s North End Neighborhood, the historic reinterpretation and rehabilitation of the Pioneer Village Living History Museum for the City of Salem, MA, the Boston Public Library’s new Field’s Corner Branch in Dorchester, MA, the Cotuit Library in Cotuit, MA, Skaneateles Library in Skaneateles, NY, Middletown Public Library in Middletown, RI and the Cahoon Museum of Art in Cotuit, MA. Chris is also OEA’s Director of Interiors, providing interior design oversight on all of the office’s active projects.

Chris is a registered architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Over the years, he has served as an adjunct faculty member at Northeastern University, leading undergraduate and graduate level design studios. He lives with partner Carlos in Boston’s South End.
